HB 1913 85(R) - 2017 This bill would remove the requirement to have a Ph.D in osteopathy in order to be President of the University of North Texas Health Science Center. The bill would also repeal a statutory prohibition preventing the university from awarding an M.D. degree. Read More
SB 28 85(R) - 2017 Under current law the Texas Mobility Fund can be used for a port security, transportation, or facility project including a maritime port study. SB 28 would amend the Transportation Code so as to restrict use of Mobility Funds to only those projects that will construct or improve public roadways that will enhance connectivity to ports. SB 416 85(R) - 2017 Under current law, the president of the board of directors of the State Bar of Texas is required to appoint four minority member directors. SB 416 would require the president to instead appoint four outreach directors. Outreach directors would not be required to be from a particular background, but would be required to have demonstrated sensitivity and knowledge necessary to represent the interests of attorneys from varied backgrounds.Read More
SB 586 85(R) - 2017 Under current law, the Small and Rural Incumbent Local Exchange Company Universal Service Plan exists to assist utilities in providing basic telecommunications services at a reasonable rate. This service plan is set to expire in September, 2017.
