SB 1459 85(R) - 2017 Under current law, a landowner can lose an agricultural tax incentive if the land ceases to be used for the agricultural purpose or to the required degree of intensity required. SB 908 85(R) - 2017 This bill would allow a vehicle used by a medical supply distributor to transport prescription drugs and other medical supplies to a hospital or other emergency care facility or pharmacy in a disaster area to operate as an emergency vehicle if certain conditions are met. SB 793 85(R) - 2017 Under current law, concrete crushing facilities can not operate within 440 yards of a residence, school, or place of worship. SB 793 would now prohibit operation within 440 yards of a public park or an outdoor recreational facility used for organized sporting events.Read More
SB 748 85(R) - 2017 This bill would clarify certain procedures that deal with the transition of certain special needs children out of the public school system. It would also add to the requirements for what must be provided to students and families. The bill would require the commissioner of education by rule to adopt procedures with respect to referring a student or the student's parents to a governmental agency for services or public benefits. Read More
SB 727 85(R) - 2017 Under current law, the state has certain standards that govern how to compute completion and dropout rates as a measure of public school accountability. This bill would stipulate that those students who are detained in the juvenile detention facility are not eligible to be counted in the dropout and completion rates for accountability purposes.Read More
SB 444 85(R) - 2017 There is no provision in current law allowing private schools to hire a school marshal. This bill would permit private schools to hire a school marshal at a ratio of one marshal per 200 students.Read More
SB 436 85(R) - 2017 The governor is required by law to appoint a 17 member continuing advisory committee to advise on special education issues.This bill would require that not later than January 1 of each odd-numbered year, the committee shall submit a report to the legislature with recommended changes to state law and agency rules relating to special education. This bill would also subject the committee to open meeting requirements and encourage public participation.Read More
HB 4011 85(R) - 2017 HB 4011 would prohibit a healthcare provider from reporting to a consumer reporting agency an unpaid debt for nonemergency medical care unless the provider discloses the cost of the medical care to the patient in advance of providing the care and obtains a signature on the disclosure form consenting to the charges. HB 1816 85(R) - 2017 Under current law, emergency vehicles are sometimes exempted from certain road laws during the course of performing their duties. HB 1816 would grant the same exemptions to a medical supply distributor to transport medical supplies to an emergency care facility or pharmacy located in an area declared a disaster area by the governor as long as such operation will not negatively impact evacuation, recovery, or response activities.Read More

HB 849 85(R) - 2017 HB 849 would amend the Insurance Code to add that an insurer that cancels a personal automobile insurance policy that provides comprehensive or collision physical damage coverage for an automobile that is subject to a purchase money lien must notify the lienholder that the coverage will be cancelled.
